Hourly draws FOR
$40 Textures Craftworks Gift Certificates
will take place July 8th
Textures Craftworks is celebrating a special anniversary on Saturday July 8, 2023, a day to mark 40 creative years of artists and artisans working together to have a shop of their own. With the store’s beginnings dating back to 1983, and founded by a core group of creative women, there is a lot to celebrate as this artisan collective with diverse talents has shown. The collective is creative in both their arts and in the running of their business. Weathering the many storms and changes in the landscape that any business faces over the years, including enduring a summer shut-down of Locke Street for a complete reconstruction, and then facing – and surviving – a pandemic without online sales to fall back on, they have come through with bells on.
“As one of the founding members I am so proud of our members, of our talents, and our accomplishments,” said Janne Hackl, founder and stained-glass artist. “By working together we have one of the longest-running small businesses in the Hamilton area, one that encourages local artisans to spread their wings and create. We have held steady and true with a system that works, tweaking as needed to adjust to changing times. We keep it simple and everyone contributes.”

Artists and artisan members will be on-hand throughout the day at the store’s 236 Locke Street South location between 10 AM and 6 PM to meet with the community, talk about their craft, answer questions, and share in this special day.
Hourly draws for $40 Textures Craftworks Gift Certificates will take place on July 8th. Ballots for the draw are available in-store from June 1st to July 8th, no purchase necessary.
ABOUT TEXTURES CRAFTWORKS
Established in 1983 in Hess Village as Textures Crafts, today, Textures Craftworks has grown as a collective with over 45 local artists and artisans selling their works at their current location of 236 Locke St. South in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
In a process that continues today, artisans and artists are juried in and accepted into the collective based on their high standard of work and ability to add variety to the shop’s offerings. The storefront environment is great for artists to connect with each other as they share a permanent place to display and sell their work. Being a membership-based collective, a percentage of sales goes to help support the store and there is also a commitment from the artists to volunteer to work in the store to help out and to get a feel for the customers and the neighborhood.
