BETH PAULIN - STAINED GLASS AND JEWELLERY
TEXTURES MEMBER SINCE 2004
Beth is Hamilton-born and raised, has a BA in Creative Arts, and is currently a Burlington resident who returned to this area after 30 years in 2004.
Beth ventured off for four years travelling and working abroad in a variety of positions. Inspired by the beautiful arts and crafts of other countries she opened Bird of Paradise, a shop with locations in Orillia and Kingston. Devoted to exquisite handmade articles from all over the world, as well as local native aboriginal works, Bird of Paradise was a delight for many during its seven-year run.
From an early age, Beth expressed her love of creating by drawing, painting, needlework, weaving, macramé, jewellery-making, pottery, Fimo bead work, dream-catchers – and finally, stained glass, mentored by Janne Hackl.
Beth’s jewellery is unconventional, usually asymmetrical, and often funky. Her colourful brooches are lovingly appliquéd and embroidered in felt, cotton, and beads. Beth’s stained glass pieces are either colourful caricatures of dogs and other animals, funky abstracts, musical instruments, or fantastical floral panels.
