Diane Irons - Potter
TEXTURES MEMBER SINCE 2009
Diane Irons started taking pottery lessons at Dundas Valley School of Art in the fall of 2004. She was immediately hooked on the fun, creativity and challenge of clay. After three months she borrowed a pottery wheel from her instructor and was on the road to becoming a potter. Since then she has taken many courses and workshops to continually improve and grow in her ceramic abilities.
Diane is a functional potter who likes to decorate with different colours of glazes and try new decoration techniques. One of those techniques is a very challenging and ancient one called maiolica, which is bright colours painted on top of a very white glaze. She especially enjoys making pots that people can enjoy using on a daily basis.
Diane has been involved in the pottery community as a member of the executive of the Potters’ Guild of Hamilton and Region for the past 11 years. She has also been a member of Textures Craftworks for 11 years, and for the past six years has been very involved with the operation of the store.
You can find her work at Textures on Locke Street South in Hamilton, at the spring and fall sales of the Potters’ Guild of Hamilton and Region, and at the Christmas Show at the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas.
