COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is a concern for everyone and our priority has always been the health and safety of our artists, customers and our community. We are continually monitoring the situation and will put out updates on our website and social media as things change. You are invited to follow us on our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter accounts as we continue to post the great work of our members along with other information, updates and notifications. Be safe everyone. Every year some of our artists and artisans make gorgeous one-of-a-kind ornaments for the tree. There is a wide variety to choose from with new ones coming in frequently. These are mini works of art, handmade and unique...treasures to pass down from generation to generation and a great way to add warmth and individuality to your home for the holidays. Don't forget, they make great little gifts, too!
We continue to have a great selection of new and unique masks being brought in by our textile makers! It is advised to rotate your masks frequently with clean ones, so having a bountiful selection makes that fun and easy to do! Pop in to see the latest selection we have in stock!
Locke Street Shops are excited to announce Seven Saturdays - Pedestrian and On Street Dining on Locke Street! 🎉
Each Saturday from August 1 to September 12, we will open Locke Street to the community by closing the street to traffic between Hunter and Stanley, to allow for our community to visit Locke Street shops through the summer season and to enjoy food & drink from 9 am until 11 pm (while easily practising physical distancing, of course). Participating restaurants will welcome customers with on-street dining options, and at least a 4.5 meter lane will ensure a comfortable safe space for pedestrians and cyclists. The Locke Street Farmers' Market will be open from 9am til noon. FREE PARKING will be available at Blessings Church, Melrose United Church and there’s paid parking options behind Starbucks. Get outside, take a walk, and support Locke Street businesses! We are very happy to be open again, albeit under different operating hours for the time being. We hope you get a chance to pop into the store to see what our very talented artists, artisans and craftspeople have been up to during the pause we are all starting to emerge from. If you need masks, we have TONS OF MASKS! And so many varieties we bet you can't pick just one! Many of them are reversible so depending on your outfit and mood, you can easily change it up! Come by and see for yourself, before THE MASKS OF ALL MASKS is gone!
![]() We're very happy to announce we will re-OPEN the store on Tuesday June 2nd! Please take note of our NEW HOURS, Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm. We will now be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Please be aware that it could arise that we may be closed on one of these days. Thank you for your understanding. We have put in place some new requirements to practice while in the store. This is in the interest of protecting our artists, customers, and community and we appreciate your co-operation and patience:
Don't forget that Father's Day is around the corner and our member Anita Thomas (Urbanmoon) has done up the window with an aviation theme, including photography of the Lancaster and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. ![]() It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of one of our Textures Craftworks co-founders. Margo Griffith passed away on May 5, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Her talents, foresight, and business acumen helped forge the way forward in building the wonderful shop we all know and love today. From its beginnings in 1983 to when she stepped back in 2014, her contributions to Textures Craftworks have been invaluable as her vision and hard work helped build an exemplary storefront to showcase local artisans, craftspeople and artists. Click to read more about Margo as written by two other co-founders, Janne Hackl and Sharon Beasley. |
