Ruth MORROW Oldham - Fine art and Fabric Arts
TEXTURES MEMBER SINCE 2000
Ruth Oldham is a fabric arts knitter, sewer and fine art painter. She has been a working member of Textures Craftworks from early 2000 to the present.
A knitter of sweaters, toques, socks, mitts, scarves, tea cosies, baby clothes, soft toys, animals, and Hamilton Tiger-Cat footballs, her range is wide. Oldham’s paintings are available on note cards that can be framed or given away.
Ruth’s craft items are made with acquired skills and a love of blending function, art and design while using good quality materials and maintaining a high standard of excellence. In her time at Textures, Ruth has sold hundreds of her knitted and craft goods to happy customers and has helped many choose just the item they needed.
She learned knitting and textile craft techniques (knitting and sewing) from her grandmother and mother who were both accomplished knitters and seamstresses.
Ruth has studied fine arts and crafts widely: Lithography at the Vancouver School of Art; printmaking at the Haliburton School of Art; drawing and painting at Mohawk College, Dundas Valley School of Art, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton; and has received a B.F.A. with a major in printmaking at the University of Manitoba.
