Locke Street will be UNLOCKED and the street filled with live music, food, local artisan vendors, on-street entertainment, and exciting demos for three Sundays!
The Locke Street BIA will be opening up the street to pedestrians and the community with no vehicle traffic one Sunday per month from July to September. The roads will be pedestrian only from 7 AM to 7 PM and the event and activities run from 9 AM to 6 PM. Some of Textures Craftworks' talented artists and artisans will be at the shop doing demos of their work over the three Sundays Unlocked events. Come by to see them create and learn more about their process. See map below for closures. |

Anna Dvorkin-Gheva - WOODBURNING ARTISAN
|
Anna works with a wide range of materials, from wood to fabric and will demonstrate the art of woodburning. A graduate of an art school in St Petersburg, Russia, Anna applies her skills to create sculptures, pyrography and wood carving projects. As a wood carver, Anna regularly participates in the Hamilton Wood Show Championship and has won first and second prizes in the bird carving categories.

naomi Frohlich - SCULPTOR
|
Naomi, a ceramics sculptor for 20 years, will demonstrate ceramic hand building using raw clay. The finished piece will require drying and two firings, one bisque firing to harden the clay and a glaze firing which will add color to the piece. Both firing take several hours and must be done in a special ceramic kiln offsite. The final product may be sold in the store at a later date.

Sue Gunter - MIXED MEDIA ARTIST, JEWELLEr

he works in acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media while her jewellery is created from polymer clay, wire, gems, crystals, beach glass, vintage and other interesting components. Sue will show simple wire wrapping techniques, wrapping beach glass or a gemstone crystal, providing ideas to wrap large and small beads into a pendant or as a component for an earring or bracelet.

Lauchlan Harrison - LEATHERSMITH
|
Lauch will use a Stitching Horse and a Diamond Awl to pierce holes in the leather allowing the needles to pass through. There are Needles at both ends of the Linen Thread. This is Harness Stitching in heavy Vegetable Tanned Leather. The leather will be formed into a Mug then coated with beeswax making it suitable for use with cool or cold drinks.
